Your data and account
Download a copy of everything we hold about you, request permanent account deletion, or formally exercise the rights described in our Privacy Policy. Everything starts from your profile page.
On this page
What we hold about you
Your profile (name, email, avatar), the residential address you provided to verify residency, every post / chat message / comment / vote / RSVP / marketplace listing you’ve made, payment history (if your community uses dues), authentication logs, and the audit trail of any administrative actions you’ve taken. The full inventory lives in our Privacy Policy §9.6.
Download your data
From your profile page, scroll to Data & account requests and click Download my data (ZIP). A few seconds later a ZIP file downloads to your device with every record we hold tied to your account, organized into folders (account/, content/, engagement/, requests/, financial/, logs/) plus a README explaining what’s in each file.
Request account deletion
Same section. Click Request account deletion, type DELETE in the confirmation field, and submit. Typing DELETE is the identity confirmation, so the request enters the admin queue already verified. you do not need to click any email link.
From there, an admin reviews the request and executes the deletion within 30 days (45 days if you’re a California resident, with a possible extension on notice where the law permits). You’ll receive a final confirmation email at the address on file once the deletion is complete.
Formal CCPA / GDPR requests
The buttons above cover most cases. If you want written confirmation, are acting through an authorized agent, or need data outside what the self-serve ZIP covers (for example, records we’d have to retrieve manually), use the Submit formal export request button on the same panel. We respond within the statutory window for your jurisdiction. You can also email hello@neighbors.fyi directly with the same request.
What happens when an account is deleted
Three things, in this order, once an admin executes the deletion:
- Purged: your profile row, your residential address, your auto-pay payment methods at Stripe, and your authentication records.
- Anonymized: chat messages, direct messages, vendor reviews, and other text content other neighbors have already interacted with. The text stays so the community’s record makes sense, but the author shows as Deleted resident instead of your name.
- Retained (anonymized): financial transactions and moderation audit entries we’re required by law to keep. Your name is removed from these; the underlying record stays.
